Community of faith centered on the love of God

Westminster is a community of faith centered on the love of God, revealed in Christ Jesus, our Lord. At Westminster we believe that the God of all Creation is a God of love, and we believe this is true, because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In Jesus, God is saving the world, and as Christ’s disciples we are called to join in this saving work, keeping in mind that Jesus did not come to create a new religion, but rather a new community, centered on the love and grace of God.
All people are invited to come to our worship, join our mission, and participate in our educational opportunities.
Everything we do is about helping you encounter God. Sometimes this encounter happens through the wonder of music, other times it occurs during a conversation over coffee or in an education class.
A faith in Jesus Christ is a living, moving, active relationship that propels us forward, shaping and forming us into the people God created us to be.
It is our hope that as your faith grows you will find a greater desire to serve others. With this in mind we try to make it as easy as possible to serve right here in Akron.
Worship happens
on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Beautiful music, inspiring sermons, thoughtful prayers, honest confession, and a word of blessing shape our worship experience. Mystery and wonder mix together with warmth and welcome to create the perfect space for you to come – as you are – and encounter the living God.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person worship has been suspended indefinitely. Presently, we offer one online, live-streaming service on Facebook at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. For those who wish to take part in worship at a later time, the service is uploaded to the church website after worship.

Unexpected Revelation

Speaker: The Reverend Jon Hauerwas/Comments: 0

Psalm 48:1-8 and Mark 6:1-13 In scripture, we don’t learn much about Jesus as a child, with the exception of his birth narrative, and that story of his family traveling to Jerusalem for the Passover. You may recall when Jesus was 12 years old, and his parents accidentally left him […]

The Power of Touch

Speaker: The Reverend Jon Hauerwas/Comments: 0

Psalm 130:1-8 and Mark 5:21-43 In our gospel lesson, this morning, Jesus and his disciples are in high demand. They have just made landfall when they are greeted by a large crowd of spectators, well-wishers, skeptics, and believers. The crowd is loud and animated. And while most remain nameless, our […]
