Christmas Baskets

In conjunction with the local Salvation Army, we continue our annual tradition to deliver Christmas food baskets to Akronites in need.  This year’s delivery of 225 baskets is scheduled for Saturday, December 14 at 9 AM.

Each basket is filled with ham, eggs, bread, potatoes, milk, and other basic Holiday food items that we all take for granted.  We also provide a New Testament and a letter from the church that includes the 3rd Sunday dinner schedule.

We are taking donations to cover the cost of each basket valued at $50, although any donation is truly appreciated.  These donations can be made via our online giving option or during the offering using the pew envelopes labeled “Christmas Baskets”.

On Saturday in December, we will need plenty of volunteers to deliver the baskets.  You can join us in Wright-Herberich hall for donuts, coffee, and street maps at 9:00 AM.  In addition, we are looking for volunteers to arrive at 7:30 AM to assist in unloading the truck and loading the boxes upon arrival from Acme #1.

Prayer Quilt
The quilts are made by a group of church members who meet on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. They layout a quilt from the many squares we have that volunteers have cut for us.  Some of the members of this committee just design the quilts, some sew the squares together and some sew the filler and backing together to finish the quilt.  We have three “kinds” of quilts;  male, female, and children.  We have lots of them already made and lots of fabric to make more! If there is someone you feel would benefit from having a quilt please let us know! Marian Wahl mcwahl@sbcglobal.net
