All Church-Event: Carnaval/Tango
Saturday, February 22 at 5:30 p.m.
Our Deacons and Discipleship Committee will host Carnaval! — an evening of food, fun, fellowship, and feathers for the congregation based on the popular South American holiday. Come to Wright-Herberich Hall to sample traditional foods of the season from different cultures, have your photo taken in the photo booth (props will be provided!) and participate in a pancake race. Wear a mask and beads if you like, and bring a friend!
Children are invited to come disguised in a costume, as is the custom in a number of countries. Guest musician and tango dance instructor Craig Herrington will be featured at this fun-filled event. Craig is a tango teacher and dancer based in Cleveland, Ohio. His tango studies thus far have taken him across the Midwest and Northeast US. He has studied intensely with the Cleveland Tango School, and has taken workshops in Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York.
The event will begin with dinner at 5:30 pm. Following the meal, Herrington and Director of Music Valerie Thorson will present a short program for Bandoneon (an Argentine accordion used in tango orchestras) and piano, and then Craig will be demonstrating and teaching the Argentine Tango.
The event is free and open to the public, and ample free parking is available. Sign up in WHH.
