A word from our Pastor

Friends, On July 22, Westminster’s Session met to discuss the possibility of resuming in person worship, and a motion was passed stating that we will not resume in-person worship until there are less than 500 daily reported COVID cases in the state of Ohio for a period of 45 straight days. To put these numbers in perspective, we currently have approximately 1,500 cases per day. I recognize that many of you are anxious to return to in-person worship. To this end, some have suggested that we propose a date on which we might return. Unfortunately, the challenge associated with setting a future date lies in our inability to predict the future spread of the virus and, with this in mind, any date that we selected would be completely arbitrary. While this long wait has been very difficult for all of us, we have chosen to pursue the present course because we wish to preserve the health, safety, and well-being of everyone in our fellowship. Westminster’s leadership does not want our congregation to be known as a place of tragedy, but of hope. As Paul writes in Romans 8:24-25, “For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”

May God’s peace be with you,
Jon
