Our music for Christmas Eve this year will feature the quieter, gentler sounds of duo violins with voices, harpsichord, and organ. Our soloists will be singing some lovely light baroque music for both the extended Prelude music (which will begin at approximately 4:45 pm) and the Offertory. During the Prelude, our singers, along with violinists Amber Dimoff and Sarah Husak, will perform selections from Charpentier’s “Song of the Birth of the Infant Jesus.” Amber and Sarah will play the lyrical “Pastorale” from Arcangelo Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto.” Tenor Ben Hayes and mezzo soprano Elizabeth Crabtree will sing a beautiful duet version of “O Holy Night,” to end the Prelude. The Offertory will be a lovely setting of “In dulci jubilo” (“Now sing we, now rejoice”), with two violins and continuo, by Dietrich Buxtehude.
Don’t miss the livestream service on the first Sunday after Christmas, when, as a special treat, dancers from the Infinite Legacy Project will present a virtual interpretive dance to the “Pifa” from Handel’s Messiah.
